Extracellular production of Pseudozyma (Candida) antarctica lipase B with genuine primary sequence in recombinant Escherichia coli

・Pseudozyma (Candida) antarctica lipase B (CALB) was produced extracellularly by E. coli.
・The target in the culture supernatant amounted to 550 mg/L.
・5.67 mg of the purified CALB was obtained from 50 mL culture.
・The structural and catalytic integrity of the recombinant CALB was confirmed.
・This is the first example of E. coli-based extracellular production of CALB with the correct primary sequence.

Investigating the role of co-substrate–substrate ratio and filter media on the performance of anammox hybrid reactor treating nitrogen rich wastewater

・Filter media (FM) contributed 15.4% additional NH4–N removal.
・FM also contributed 29% reduction in sludge washout rate.
・Mass balance revealed major fraction of input nitrogen got converted into N2 gas.
・Modified Stover–Kincannon model was most suitable for substrate removal kinetics.
・Lawrence and McCarty model suitably predicted bacterial growth kinetics.

・Mesenchymal stem cells were successfully transdifferentiated to Schwann cell-like cells on micropatterned substrates.
・A high degree of transdifferentiation was observed on the polymeric substrates.
・Micropatterns significantly affected the morphology, elongation and orientation of the transdifferentiated cells.
・Micropatterns did not have any effect on cellular area of the cells as compared to cells growing on smooth substrates.
・Patterned films do not cause any deleterious effect on differentiation potential of cells.
