Gamma-cross-linked nonfibrillar collagen gel as a scaffold for osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells
Takako Takitoh, Masahiko Bessho, Motohiro Hirose, Hajime Ohgushi, Hideki Mori, Masayuki Hara
Highlights
We prepared gamma-cross-linked nonfibrillar collagen gels and unirradiated fibrillar gels.
The mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) differentiated into osteoblasts on both collagen gels.
The MSC-derived osteoblasts deposited calcium on both collagen gels.
Bone formation by osteoblasts was more efficient in the nonfibrillar gels than the fibrillar gels.
The MSCs had a unique elongated shape and adhered to each other on the nonfibrillar gels.

Relative charge density model on chitosan-fucoidan electrostatic interaction: Qualitative approach with element analysis
Eun Ju Lee, Kwang-Hee Lim
Highlights
We propose a relative charge density model of chitosan-fucoidan nanoparticles.
The model can control the size of chitosan-fucoidan nanoparticles.
At pH 2, sulfate group-rich nanoparticles are prepared with a low yield.
At pH 6, sulfate group-poor nanoparticles are prepared with a high yield.
We obtain separate yield-distributions of each loaded chitosan and fucoidan.
